Driving school to offer classes in Clear Spring

Widmyer Driving School will offer its driver education class for the first time in Clear Spring.

Class starts Nov. 6 at Clear Spring Town Hall. Classes will meet from 4 to 7 p.m. for 10 days.

Trunk-or-treat event planned for Friday

Parkhead United Methodist Church will hold a trunk-or-treat event Friday at 6 p.m. at its fellowship hall. The community is invited.

A light dinner, games and snacks will be provided.

Garden Club to meet

The Clear Spring Garden Club will gather Thursday at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of St. John’s United Church of Christ. The guest demonstrator will be Brad Lee. 

The meeting is open to the public.

Mowbray to perform

The Clear Spring Leonard P. Snyder Memorial Library will host a solo concert by guitarist Candice Mowbray Sunday, Nov. 4, at 3 p.m. 

In the solo concert Mowbray features works by the celebrated French guitar virtuoso Ida Presti as well as works by Lagoya, Pujol and Piazzolla.

Noted for her “beautiful tone” and “sensitive music-making,” Mowbray has appeared on television and radio and has been profiled in Classical Guitar magazine’s “Letter from New York.”

Mowbray has taught for Shenandoah Conservatory, Shepherd University, Mount St. Mary’s University, Hagerstown and Frederick community colleges.
