Police investigate theft of pocketbook

Hagerstown police were searching for a man who snatched a pocketbook from a woman’s coat Monday morning in front of City Hall, Hagerstown Police Department Lt. Tom Langston said.

Langston said the woman waited a few hours to report the theft, which happened around 10 a.m. near the southwest corner of West Franklin and North Potomac streets.

The robber was described as a tall black male wearing a windbreaker, dark hat, baggy jeans and black shoes.

Langston said the robber fled the scene on a small bike.
