Shiloh United Methodist Church, at 19731 Shiloh Church Road in Hagerstown, will hold an all-you-can-eat ham and turkey supper Saturday, Nov. 3, from 3 to 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for those ages 6 to 12, and are free for those 5 and younger.

Carryout meals will be available for $11 each.

On the menu is ham, turkey and all the trimmings, beverage and dessert.

Shiloh United Methodist Church will host a trunk-or-treat event at the church Sunday, starting at 5 p.m.

Supper will be served at 5:30 p.m.

Those ages 12 and younger are invited. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Fall fest


The Women’s Club, at  31 S. Prospect St. in Hagerstown, invites the community to its annual fall fest Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

A bake table of homemade food, garden items, crafts and 10 vendors, including Silpada Jewelers, Willow House and Cookie Lee Jewelry will be available for purchase.

Soups, apple dumplings and country ham sandwiches can be ordered by calling the club at 301-739-0870. They can be picked up Saturday.

Apple dumplings and country ham sandwiches cost $3 each. Quarts of ham and bean, chicken corn or beef vegetable soup cost $5.50 and pints cost $3.

Card party

The Women’s Club invites the community to a Halloween card party and luncheon Wednesday, Oct. 31, at noon.

Attendees can play any card or board game and have lunch at the club.

Garden club speaker

Crossroads Garden Club, which is part of the Women’s Club, invites the community to its annual fundraiser, “The Greens Show and Afterglow,” Sunday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. at the club. 

The presenter will be David Shover, a floral designer who travels around the country presenting floral-design shows and workshops.

Door prizes of some of the presenter’s floral creations, raffles of gift baskets and refreshments are included in the $12 ticket price.

Losses for the week totaled 20 3/4 pounds for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077.

Charles House, Dottie Alexander and Becky Hartt were the best TOPS losers.

Darla Hartley and Mary Jo Cunningham were the best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers.

The no-no snack for the week is soda.

Emma Jean Roberson won the ha-ha prize.

In the weekly team challenges, team No. 6, The Golden Oldies, had the highest total in losses.

Kathy Freese gave her Pound Kitty to Valerie Eccard for encouragement.

Mildred Hluchy presented the program, which was about her life story and her struggles. She said losing weight is only half of the battle; keeping it off is the other half.

Donations for Food for the Hungry are due Monday, Nov. 5.

The hats, mittens and gloves collection for needy children will run from Nov. 5 to Monday, Dec. 3.

All cards and items for the troops are due Monday, Nov. 12.

The group meets Monday mornings at First Christian Church. 1345 Potomac Ave.

Trunk-or-treat event set for Friday

Children from the community are invited to come in costume from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday to the parking lot of Paramount Brethren in Christ Church on Longmeadow Road in Hagerstown. 

Candy will be given away from the trunks of vehicles and refreshments will be served in the social hall as part of the church’s third annual trunk-or-treat event.
