EXETER, U.K. — Jessica M. Beck received her doctorate in performance practice during ceremonies July 17 at the University of Exeter in England.

Beck is the daughter of Marie and Ed Beck of Waynesboro, Pa.

Beck graduated from St. James School in 2000, and completed a bachelor’s degree in theater at the University of San Diego.

She also is a graduate of East15 Acting School, part of the University of Essex.

Her Ph.D. dissertation is titled “Directing Emotion: A Practice-Led Investigation into the Challenge of Emotion in Western Performance.”

She is a playwright and director, who most recently co-wrote and directed a verbatim play commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Exeter Blitz.

She lives and works in London.

ST. LOUIS — Angela McCleaf of Smithsburg recently graduated from Chamberlain College of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in nursing.

She was named to the president’s honors list for academic excellence.

NEW YORK — Alyssa Snowden of Hagerstown was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at LIM College. 

Based in New York City, the college is focused on the business aspects of the fashion industry.

 

DAYTON, TENN. — Nathan Adams of Frederick, Md., was among 56 Bryan College students who attended the recent Catalyst leadership conference in Atlanta.

He is the son of David and Linda Adams.

He had the opportunity to choose five workshops and the last day was devoted to sessions covering a wide range of topics focusing on the “Make” theme.
