Florence Isabella "Flo" Compher Thompson, formerly of Brunswick, Md., went to be with her Lord Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village in Hagerstown.

Born Sept. 5, 1915, in Lovettsville, Va., she was the daughter of Charles Elbert and Buda Harrison Compher.

Flo was the oldest member of Mount Olivet Methodist Church in Lovettsville and the Ladies of the Moose.

She worked at the Brunswick umbrella factory in 1941, then Price Electric in Frederick, Md., and Frederick Airpax until she retired. Following retirement, she was a volunteer driver for the Frederick County Senior Services, delivering lunches to shut-ins in Brunswick.

She loved traveling on bus trips and also visited Hawaii twice. A devoted fan of the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Orioles, she never missed watching the games on TV.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Deener and husband, Sam, of Falling Waters, W.Va.; seven granddaughters, Carey Brewer and husband, Russell, of Wilmington, N.C., Sandra Southerly and husband, Laney, of Fort Pierce, Fla., Darlene Spangler and husband, Paul, of Smithsburg, Judy Kline and husband, Tom, of Dillsburg, Pa., Lori Mallor and husband, Bob, of Virginia, Brenda Mentzer and husband, Mike, of Kernesville, and Linda Thompson of Hagerstown; two stepgrandchildren, Mary Lou Magaha and Ginny Payne of Taneytown, Md.; one grandson, Charles Thompson Jr. of Funkstown; and one stepgrandson, Butch Payne of New Market, Md. She has many great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Thompson; her only son, Charles Richard Thompson; one grandson, Thomas Richard Thompson; four brothers, Charles Compher, Claude Compher, George Compher and John Compher; and a lifetime friend, Raymond Glen "Casey" Wynkoop.

She is survived by one sister, Evelyn Compher Donovan of Frederick. She will be remembered by two dear friends, Georgie Ridgeway and Wilma Deener.

Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Chad Brewer and Deacon Rusty Brewer will officiate. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Lovettsville.
