October 20, 2012

HANCOCK —  A Respect for Life walk held Saturday raised about $300 for the Hope Center in Hagerstown, said the Rev. Jack Lombardi of St. Peter Catholic Church in Hancock.

About 35 walkers participated in the event, Lombardi said. Walkers traveled 15 miles from Hancock to Clear Spring, he said.

The walk began at 9 a.m. and ended with a rally, dinner, witness talks and music at the Clear Spring Park pavilion.

On Friday, youths from local Catholic churches were invited to a lock-in beginning at 6 p.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church.

The lock-in event included dinner, witness talks, holy hour and confessions, a bonfire and spiritual games.

The events were held to mark Respect for Life Month.
