October 19, 2012

SMITHSBURG — A woman and three children were taken to Meritus Medical Center east of Hagerstown on Friday morning for injuries received in a head-on collision on Foxville Road (Md. 77), a Maryland State Police trooper said.

The injuries to the driver of the minivan and her three passengers were not believed to be life-threatening, said Senior Trooper James Ardinger.

The accident occurred at 8:44 a.m. about a mile east of the intersection with Md. 64. A westbound Kia Sephia sedan crossed the center line on a hairpin turn and struck the eastbound minivan, Ardinger said.

The woman driving the Kia was not injured, Ardinger said.

Ardinger said wet road conditions and fog were contributing factors in the crash.
