Liza Minnelli cancels Shippensburg appearance

  • Liza Minnelli, 66, first appeared on Broadway in 1965 in Flora The Red Menace. She won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, making her the youngest person to win that prize. She'll appear Friday at the H. Ric Luhrs Center at Shippensburg University.

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — An Evening with Liza Minnelli “Confessions” scheduled for Friday at The H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center has been canceled.

According to a news release from the Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University, Minnelli is suffering from a throat infection and is under doctor's orders not to perform. The Luhrs Center has no plans to reschedule this show at this time, according to the release.

Patrons holding tickets to this performance may contact the Luhrs Center Box Office at 717-477-SHOW (7469) to do one of the following: Apply the value of the tickets toward the purchase of another Luhrs Center performance during the 2012-13 season (October through July), apply the value of the tickets toward a Luhrs Center gift certificate, apply the value of the tickets toward membership in the Luhrs Circle of Friends, or receive a refund.

Ticket holders are asked to respond by Friday, Nov. 2, according to the release.
