Mail Call - Oct. 19

October 18, 2012

“I’m calling about the comment in Tuesday’s Mail Call about the property on Fairview Mountain in Clear Spring. I think the landlord is just mad because they had to do something on the property. Too bad. If you want to be a landlord or homeowner, you need to be more responsible, and not so lazy or cheap to spend your money. I think Clear Spring should be on these landlords. It makes more people just mad, and gives Clear Spring a bad reputation. Come on.”

“Know what the difference is between a recession, a depression, and a recovery? A recession is when your neighbor’s out of work, a depression is when you’re out of work, a recovery is when President Obama’s out of work. True when Reagan said it of Carter, true of Obama as well. End it in November.”
— Frederick, Md.

“You know, we’re fighting for this and fighting for that and giving to this and giving to that. This drug problem in Hagerstown is getting to be terrible. The police know where these people are dealing drugs and everything, and you tell them, and nothing gets done about it. You know, and people are trying to raise families, you know, their kids and their kids’ kids, and they can’t grow up around people like this here. And the police need to start cracking down ... and the judges need to crack down on them.”
— Hagerstown

“You know, I listened to Mitt Romney’s speech on foreign affairs the other day, and he was condemning President Obama for not doing more to help these countries like Egypt and the countries that lost their dictatorships, and the people are rioting out in the streets and everything. Just what would he have done? When you lose a dictator and you get new regimes, that takes a little while longer to get the things straightened out.”
— Hagerstown

“Seriously, how can there be so many people driving around with no taillights, in the dark, the fog, and the rain? And what’s up with these blacked-out taillights? How smart is that?”
— Hagerstown

“To all the callers who are probably conservative-leaning, raving about Gov. Romney’s debate performance: You’re right; one of you said that we don’t know Romney, we need to know him. Of course we don’t know him, because the guy constantly flip-flops. I watch all his speeches, and it’ll never tell you how he’s going to give all these tax cuts. He won’t tell you what he’s going to cut. And then he tells you he’s going to give you health care parts that you like. He’s going to give you everything under the sun, and then he’ll voucherize health care.”
— Hagerstown

“This is regarding denial of voter photo ID. My husband and I took a three-week road trip. We had to show a photo ID at every motel we stayed in. Is it more important to know who is staying at a motel, instead of who is voting?”
