St. Joseph to hold Christmas bazaar

St. Joseph Catholic Church will host its annual Christmas bazaar and bake sale Thursday, Nov. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parish social hall behind the church, which is on the corner of Halfway Boulevard and Virginia Avenue.

The bazaar will offer assorted Christmas gifts and decorations, baby and household items, hand-painted folk art, raffles for a quilt and several one-of-a-kind items.

Homemade baked goods and candies, as well as soups, drinks, and sandwiches will be available for purchase.

Run planned before parade

A two-mile run/walk  — to be held before the Alsatia Mummers Parade — will be Saturday, Oct. 27, at Hagerstown’s Fairgrounds Park. The race will begin at 5 p.m.

Those interested in participating can register by calling 240-313-2805. The event is sponsored by the Washington County Recreation Department, the city of Hagerstown and the Alsatia Club.


Williamsport haunted walks to begin Friday

A haunted walk will be held in Williamsport Friday.

Those interested are asked to meet at Williams-port Town Hall at 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $5 for adults. Those ages 8 and younger will be admitted free with a paying adult. 

The walks are planned every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (weather permitting) through Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Town Hall is at the corner of East Salisbury and North Conococheague streets.

Haunted House tours to begin

The Jonathan Hager House and Museum in Hagerstown City Park will host Haunted Hager House tours beginning Friday.

The tours will be available Oct. 20, 26 and Nov. 2 and 3.

Tour times will be offered as follows: 6 p.m., 7 p.m. 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Admission costs $5 per person and reservations are required.

  • Parents of Washington County Students, please be sure to note the following on your calendar: Washington County Public Schools will be closed Friday for Association Day.
  • Trick-or-treat night in the Halfway area will be held for those ages 13 and younger Thursday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The streets included are from Bower Avenue to Lincoln Avenue.

Those who are interested in participating are asked to turn on their porch light.

The rain date will be Friday, Oct. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.
