Halloween parade

The 65th annual Hancock Halloween Parade, sponsored by the local Rotary Club, is now less than two weeks away. 

This year’s festivities take place on Halloween night, Wednesday, Oct. 31, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the downtown area.

Traditionally, the event features area bands, marching units, floats, mummers, antique cars and entries by local businesses and civic organizations. 

Entries are now being sought.

Trick-or treat

Trick-or-Treat Night in Hancock this year, by order of the Mayor and Town Council, will be Saturday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. 


Hancock Police Chief T.J. Buskirk, town officers and fire and rescue personnel will be on safety patrol to help keep the streets safe for walkers during those hours.

Participating residents are asked to have porch lights on to welcome the children.

Bingo planned

This Sunday is the date when the Hancock High School Athletic Boosters sponsor their next big fundraiser. 
Bingo will be held, featuring popular brands of handbags as the major prizes. 

All bags will be filled with various fall items. 

Tickets cost $25 for 20 games. Lunch will be available for purchase. 

The event takes place at 1 p.m. at the American Legion, U.S. 522, in nearby Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Business award

The Hancock Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2012 Hancock Business Person of the Year Award. 

The deadline for nominations is Nov. 10. 

Nominations are sought for an outstanding business leader who helps keep “Main Street” in Hancock alive and well, or contributes to the many other businesses in town. For more information, call Wayne Keefer at 304-258-7386.

Craft show

Hancock in Motion is seeking vendors for its fourth annual Hometown Christmas craft and vendor show.

The event is set for Saturday, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hancock Town Hall and Community Center, 126 W. High St.
