Grant writing workshop set for Oct. 31

The Washington County Free Library will host a free workshop for nonprofit organizations on building relationships with funders at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, in Western Maryland Room at the downtown location at 59 W. Washington St., Hagerstown.

 This workshop will be led by Harry Sachs, business and government information center librarian, and presented by Caroline Herbert, manager of multimedia and on-demand training for the Foundation Center's Washington office. She will offer tips on building relationships with foundations, starting with the initial approach. Topics covered include: how to initiate contact with potential funders; planning calls and other communications; managing site visits; and how to successfully manage life after the grant. Attendees will also learn about the best practices in managing the reports and the communication required to build long term partnerships with foundations.
