Clear Spring awards snow removal bid

The Clear Spring Town Council on Oct. 8 unanimously accepted a winter snow removal bid from Licking Creek Paving & Hauling in Big Pool, Md.

The bid proposal includes a charge of $70 per hour for plowing and salting, $70 per hour for snow removal with a backhoe, $65 per hour for snow removal with a dump truck and $10 per hour for flaggers when necessary, according to town council minutes.

Payne Contracting & Landscaping LLC in Hagerstown also submitted a bid for the contract.

Town election is Nov. 5

Clear Spring elections will be held Monday, Nov. 5, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Clear Spring Town Hall, 146 Cumberland St.

Absentee ballots must be requested by Thursday, according to Town Clerk Juanita Grimm.

Steven L. Blickenstaff has been nominated for re-election as Clear Spring vice mayor, Grimm said. He will be joined on the ballot by challengers Sue Brennan and David Robertson.

Incumbent Councilwoman Megan Yeakle is running unopposed for the lone spot on council up for grabs, Grimm said.
