Carol Ann Thomas, 74, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at her home.

Born Friday, Jan. 14, 1938, in Syracuse, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Daniel Laverne Sims and the late Dorothy Arlene Carr Sims.

Carol Sims Thomas grew up in Syracuse, N.Y., attended Atlantic Union College and Andrews University, where she majored in music and education. She was talented as an accomplished soloist, a pianist and great cook and entertainer. She served the Lord faithfully by her husband's side in the Publishing Ministry and Pastoral Ministry of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church for 45 years. Her children and grandchildren were the center for her life.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Dick Thomas; daughter, Cheryl Thomas Peters and husband, James, of Middletown, Calif.; sons, Mark Bradley Thomas and wife, Dawn, of Hagerstown, and Kent Russell Thomas and wife, Joan, of Hagerstown; sisters, Barbara Schmidt of Tustin, Calif., and Nancy Clark of Sandy Creek, N.Y.; grandchildren, Bradley Thomas, Callie Williams, Benjamin Williams, Kenneth Thomas, Kenzie Thomas, Kenneth Caviness, Cara Peters, Chelsea Courtney and Brandon Peters; great-grandchildren, Bryton and Dylan Caviness and Andrea and Angelina Courtney.

She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Cherie Cara-Mae Caviness.

Services will be held Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at noon at the Middletown Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1811 Arnold Road, Jefferson, MD 21755, with Elder David Weigley officiating.

Family will receive friends at the church Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, from 11 a.m. to noon.

Interment will follow at the Beaver Creek Cemetery, Beaver Creek, Md.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
