Happy birthday, Joe

Joe Scott is back in the news. Friends and neighbors want to give Joe a big birthday wave as he turns 98 years old today.

‘Haunted History and Paranormal Tours’ begin

The Town of Williamsport will host the first of the “2012 Haunted History and Paranormal Tours” tonight at 7 p.m., beginning at Town Hall. Numerous investigations performed this year will provide scary and unbelievable activity in town.

Additional tours are scheduled for Fridays, Oct. 19 and 26; Mondays, Oct. 22 and 29; and Wednesdays, Oct. 24 and 31. Tours will meet in front of Town Hall at 7 p.m. Reservations are not necessary, but recommended, especially for groups.


The cost is $5 per person. It is free for those 8 and younger with a paying adult. Parental discretion is suggested. Participants should dress for the weather. Costumes are welcome. Cameras and flashlights are allowed. In the event of rain, the tour will be canceled.

A special extended tour by reservation only will be given Wednesday, Oct. 31, following the Moonlight Festival.

Spaghetti dinner set for Saturday

A spaghetti dinner is planned Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Williams-port United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St., served by the Williams-port United Methodist Men.

Tickets are available at the door. Tickets cost $7 for adults; $3.50 for those ages 6 to 12, and are free for those 5 and younger.

WHS volleyball reunion games set

Former Williamsport Wildcat volleyball players will take part in the school’s inaugural alumni volleyball games Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at Williamsport High School.

Players from the 1970s and 1980s will take the court at noon. At 1:30 p.m., the ladies from the 1990s will play each other and the girls of the 2000s will take the court at 3 p.m.

There will be fun and games all afternoon at the school gymnasium. Raffles will be held, including a homemade T-shirt quilt, massage session, and baskets of goodies. A concession stand will be available along with homemade apple dumplings.

The community is invited. Admission will be by donation. All proceeds will go to the Samantha Kelly Memorial Fund.

Longaberger and cash bingo event planned

Past Pocahontas League will hold a Longaberger and cash bingo event Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84, at 16129 Lappans Road.

Doors open at 11 a.m., lunch will be served at noon and bingo starts at 1 p.m.

Lunch features a two-piece chicken dinner and drinks.

There will be 14 basket games and 11 money games. The baskets will be filled. The event also features five early bird games, door prizes, raffles and gaming.

Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Each ticket includes six cards. No alcohol will be permitted.

No one under 18 years of age will be admitted. The event is open to the public. Tickets are limited.
