GREENCASTLE, Pa. — F&M Trust and Franklin Feed & Supply partnered to purchase the grand champion at the 77th Annual Franklin County 4-H Junior Beef Club Round-Up on Sept. 22.

The grand champion was a 1,284-pound crossbreed raised by Samuel Wingert of St. Thomas, Pa., who repeated as grand champion shower. This is the third steer raised by Wingert that F&M Trust has purchased. The bank bought a crossbred companion steer in 2011 and the reserve grand champion in 2010.

In addition, the bank purchased an angus cross-companion steer raised by Kayla Hartung of Mercersburg, Pa. Continuing with its long-standing tradition of supporting local 4-H projects by purchasing livestock, the bank purchased a hog and a goat at the Franklin County 4-H Club sales in August at the Greencastle Livestock Market.

Renee Preso, assistant vice president and Southern Franklin County Market manager, represented the bank at the 4-H Club livestock sales. In August, the bank purchased a hog from Austin Yeager of Greencastle, Pa., and a goat from Claudia Hissong of Greencastle.
