Younker family reunion held at Camp Harding Park

October 16, 2012

The 12th annual Harry E. and Florence Myers Younker reunion was held Sept. 9 at Camp Harding Park in Pecktonville with 65 family members attending.

The event opened with welcoming remarks by Jason Malott and Janie Younker Spielman. It was recalled how the idea of the reunion began more than 12 years ago and everyone introduced themselves and how explained how they are related to the family.

Recognized were Ruth Younker Malott, 90, and Edna Younker, 83, the two surviving of 12 children of Harry and Florence Younker. Best wishes were offered to Val and Skip Malott, who celebrated their 50th anniversary on Sept. 1, and to Janie Spielman, who celebrated her birthday on Sept. 11.

Jeff Spielman offered the blessing before the buffet lunch was served.

The afternoon continued with 11 door prizes given out to the lucky ticket holders and three guessing games were awarded to John Barker, Stars Malott and Bryan Hockenberry. The children participated in a scavenger hunt created by Janie Spielman and Amanda Howe.

An auction was directed by Skip Malott. Once again, Rosalie Younker Light provided the top selling item, a family geology book she created.

The family will hold its 13th reunion in September 2013.
