Mail Call - Oct. 16

October 15, 2012

“I’d like to respond to an article in Sunday’s paper, Oct. 7, titled ‘Halfway church responds to Chick-fil-A.’ This is now still a free country, and free speech. Christians do not hate gays; it’s their lifestyle. Also, not everyone that was at Chick-fil-A, and I know many, that were not professing Christians. They just were not ready for this lifestyle and the same-sex marriage. So Chick-fil-A had the right to stand to voice their opinion once again, when they say no to same-sex marriage.”
— Hagerstown

“I do not practice medicine in the state of Maryland. However, it is obvious that the injections being given for various things suppress the immune system. Thoroughly talk with your doctor before getting any injection.”
— Hagerstown

“For a long, long time, I have been trying to figure out why we have a city council and county commissioners. This area isn’t large enough for both. After reading about some of the current ideas and plans for downtown Hagerstown, I’m more convinced than ever that we need only one governing agency. The two have too much time to think up dumb stuff to spend money on. How about it? Yay or nay, for combining them.”
— Hagerstown

“I believe the perfect location for a stadium within the city limits is where they’re tearing down the Venice motel. It’s very close to the original parking deck for the hospital and the numerous parking lots for the hospital. They’re already paved, they’re already there. Why can’t the city officials consider this location?”
— Clear Spring

“Hagerstown is in a unique position at this time. It can make a decision that will be a shock felt around the world. It can fungal the baseball team out of the city (pun intended). Then no more being stoned by endless verbal and printed nuttiness.”
— Hagerstown

“Have you driven the Downsville Pike recently from I-70 to the intersection of Route 68? This is a state road. When you stop and think how heavily taxed Marylanders are, doesn’t it make you wonder where your tax dollars went? Driving on the Downsville Pike is like driving on a road surface one step up from gravel. Is this the future of what the state has planned for its rural counties? Will resurfacing of this type show up in Maryland’s more urban counties as well?”
— Williamsport

“Just as I predicted many months ago, the unemployment rate would drop as it got nearer to the election. The new numbers reflect just how crooked the Obama administration really is. Anyone with common sense knows that the country is hurting more now than ever before. Just like barrels of oil dropped dramatically to $88 and gas at all our local pumps increased considerably. Vote Romney/Ryan, it has to be better than the non-leadership we have now.”
— Hagerstown

“All these people who are telling you not to vote for gambling in Prince George’s County of course are right in their reasoning. All the money or large parts of it will not go to the schools. It will go to the treasury. But that is true of all these types of deals. Cases in point, hotel tax for the new ball field, Social Security, Medicare, etc., etc. You should vote for it because it will put more money in the treasury, and what could be better for the taxpayer?”
— Washington County
