Congress forum to be held Wednesday

The three candidates for Maryland’s 6th District seat in Congress — Republican Roscoe G. Bartlett, Democrat John Delaney and Libertarian Nickolaus Mueller — will take part in a forum at Hagerstown Community College on Wednesday.

The forum will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. at HCC’s Kepler Theater.

The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Washington, Frederick and Montgomery counties.

WHAG and MCM Channel 21 will broadcast the forum across the five counties in the 6th District. WHAG will moderate using the League of Women Voters’ format.

Chamber election series

The Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce is holding three more candidate forums for the upcoming election.

The candidates for Hagerstown mayor have been invited to a forum on Wednesday.

Similar forums will be held on Oct. 24 for U.S. Senate candidates and on Oct. 31 for 6th District Congress candidates.

All of the forums will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Applause Catering at 58 E. Washington St. in Hagerstown.

The chamber election series kicked off with a forum for school board candidates on Oct. 10.

Talk about ballot question 6 planned

Amy Adler, the regional field organizer for Marylanders for Marriage Equality, will talk on Oct. 23 about Maryland ballot question 6, the legalization of same-sex marriage.

The talk will be held at New Light Metropolitan Community Church, 40 W. Church St., Hagerstown, starting at 6 p.m.

Washington County NOW will sponsor the talk. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The question will be on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.
