HCC rolls
FRONT ROYAL, Va. — Hagerstown community College marched past Lord Fairfax (Va.) Community College on Sunday 6-1 behind two goals from Genc Sopa.
Fourkoko Chaw, Matt Suddith, Chip Rittenhouse and Jordan Dickens each had a goal for HCC (11-6, 6-4 JuCo).

Mamadou Jallow and Brandon Redman each had two assists, Jazer Mauricio had one assist and Chucky Kipe recorded four saves.

Shepherd men fall
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. — Boonsboro graduate Shane Lowery scored the only goal for shepherd University in a 2-1 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday.

Lowery scored at the 57:30 mark to tie the match at 1 before Wesleyan scored the winning goal. Shepherd (5-7-1) falls to 3-3 in WVIAC play.

Shepherd women lose
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia Wesleyan blanked Shepherd University 2-0.

Elizabeth Wise had eight saves in goal for Shepherd (3-7-3, 2-3-2 WVIAC), who misfired on nine shots.

Local team wins tournament
OCEAN CITY, Md. — K.C. Hutzell was named tournament MVP, going 21-for-24 to lead Younger Toyota/The Greene Turtle to the Hooters Octoberfest Classic championship over the weekend.

The team went 6-0 in the tournament, beating the Runnin’ Rebels of Williamsport, Pa., 21-10 in the championship game.

Steve Cromer, Mike Swink, Brent Raley, Brian Hiltbrand all were named to the all-tournament team and Wayne Boward was named the tournament’s defensive MVP.
