Mail Call - Oct. 8

“I haven’t seen anything in the media about the owners of the Suns. Why are they keeping quiet, all of a sudden? All I have noticed is, I think people are losing track of what the issues are. We want the Suns to stay, but not at that huge of a price. And it appears to me — this is just my opinion — it looks like the Suns are going to stay, whether they get that stadium or not. So what is the big deal? It’s turning into a huge personality conflict, with hecklers on both sides. Certain individuals on both sides of the issue are being singled out. Something’s wrong here.”

“There should have been a law in Maryland that there should not have been estimated reading on the light meters, concerning your light bill, ... it is a terrible thing, that they charge you and they don’t even see what you use. And we need our money, because we have to live.”
— Mount Lena

“NBC’s Savannah Guthrie was interviewing President Obama on education. She asked why we spend more money on education per pupil than any other country, but are way down on results. His answer was amazing. He said many of our students are poor, and come to school hungry. Is he so out of touch with the rest of the world? They have so much more poverty than we do, plus in many countries, kids go to schools in buildings over 100 years old.”
— Martinsburg, W.Va.

“You know, the tea party’s always harping about government wasteful spending. Well, did you know that the House, which is part of Roscoe Bartlett, voted 31 times to repeal Obamacare? Thirty-one times, when it never had a chance in the Senate. They figured it was $48 million they wasted, $48 million. So the tea party hates wasteful spending.”

“I think I’ve just been insulted. I had a call and they wanted me to take a survey, so I said I would, and they got to talking about were you Republicans or Democrats or independents, were you registered in the state of West Virginia, and then they ask you are you between 25 and 35, 35 and 45, and they got up to 65, and when I told them I was over 65, they hung up on me.”
— Falling Waters, W.Va.

“Mr. President, face reality. It was a terrorist attack that happened in Benghazi, not a video, due to a film. It was done by al-Qaida, so face it. Don’t say you’re still investigating it.”
