Donna Rae Zwick

Donna Rae Zwick passed away peacefully after a long illness on Oct. 6, 2012, at home in Myersville, Md., surrounded by her family.

Born March 14, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., to Richard and Dagney Donovan, Donna married Basil Zwick on May 2, 1953.

Donna and Basil raised their family in the south suburbs of Chicago in Sauk Village, Ill. They moved to San Jose, Calif., in 1974. In 1981, Donna and Basil moved to Durango, Colo., where they operated a sandwich shop. Donna and Basil then moved to Myersville, Md., to be close to their daughter, Kimberlee, their son, Lawrence, and their grandchildren.

Donna took pleasure in spending time with her family and loved caring for her pets.

Donna is survived by her husband; her children, Bill Zwick, Kimberlee Zwick Ballenger, Michael Zwick and Lawrence Zwick. She was the grandmother to and is survived by Erin and Sarah Zwick, Ashley and David Ballenger, and Robert and Gina Zwick.

She will be sadly missed by the ladies at the Robinwood Aquatic Group, and her special friend and caregiver, Sharon King Wultsch.

Donna was preceded in her death by her parents; her brothers, Richard and Wayne; and her son, Jeffrey.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville. A brief service will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David Howell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Ave., Frederick, MD 21701.
