Rohrer to speak about stone bridges

Samples Manor to hold memorial sing
Samples Manor Church of God, 2128 Harpers Ferry Road near Dargan, will hold the Jean Hanes Memorial Hymn Sing Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the church. 
Pastor Kenny Johnson and Church Singers will play and sing, along with Danny Figgins, By Faith Group and the Travis Family.
The event will include an open mic. Food and drinks will be available. Door prizes will be presented. 
Admission is free. The event will be held rain or shine.

Breakfast planned
Potomac Valley Fire Co. in Dargan will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast Saturday from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the fire hall.
The menu includes pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, coffee and orange juice.
The breakfast costs $6. Children eat free.

Keedysville to provide bulk trash pickup Oct. 20
The town of Keedysville will provide bulk trash pickup Saturday, Oct. 20. Place items curbside Friday evening for the Saturday morning pickup.

Church to hold yard sale
Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Rohrersville will hold a yard and sandwich sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. indoors at friendship hall, at the intersection of Md. 67 and Locust Grove Road.
Furniture, children’s clothing, toys and other items will be offered at the free yard sale (donations will be accepted).
Country ham sandwiches, homemade soups and baked goods will be on sale.
All proceeds will go to the Mount Zion Needy Family Fund.

Sharpsburg Elementary plans healthy October
The Sharpsburg Elementary community will focus on a healthy lifestyle during the month of October with vision screenings Monday, Oct. 15. A Flumist nasal spray flu vaccine clinic will be held Tuesday, Oct. 16. The PTA will hold a fitness fest/walkathon Friday, Oct. 26.
Students and staff will begin an anti-bullying program Thursday, Oct. 25.

Church to hold bazaar
Salem Lutheran Church, 17626 Bakersville Road, will hold a Christmas bazaar Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Raffle tickets for a quilt will be sold. Food will be available for sale.
Tables are available for rent at $15 for both days.
Proceeds will go toward the needy family fund.

BHS powder puff game
The female students at Boonsboro High School will play a powder puff football game at Warrior Stadium Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m.
Admission costs $3 for students and $5 for adults.
The homecoming parade through the town of Boonsboro will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m.

Church to offer free supplies
Benevola United Methodist Church, 19925 Benevola Church Road, will offer cleaning supplies and hygiene products free Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. and the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.
Cleaning supplies will include paper towels, laundry detergent, liquid dish detergent, bleach and all-purpose cleaners. Hygiene products will include bath soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, facial tissues, baby wipes, baby powder, disposable diapers, single roll-toilet paper and feminine care items.
 The items are offered to the community as a part of the Benevola United Methodist Church Bountiful Blessings outreach project.

Church to hold free breakfast
Benevola United Methodist Church, 19925 Benevola Church Road, will hold a community breakfast Saturday, Oct. 20, and the third Saturday of every month from 7 to 10 a.m.

Class of ‘67 plans reunion
The Boonsboro High Class of 1967 will hold its 45-year reunion Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Elks Lodge in Hagerstown with happy hour starting at 5 p.m.
The reunion costs $35 per person.

Class of ’77 to hold reunion
The Boonsboro High Class of 1977 will hold its 35-year reunion Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Elks Lodge in Hagerstown, starting at 5 p.m.  All class members and spouses are invited to attend a buffet-style dinner and attend the Boonsboro High homecoming game the night of Oct. 19.

Wyant to offer diabetes class
Nurse Louise Wyant will offer a diabetes class Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the senior site in Keedysville. This one-hour class is free and open to the public and will provide information, fun and friendship.
