Grand prize winner named in YMCA, Red Cross treasure hunt

The Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Hagerstown YMCA held their second Family Fun Treasure Hunt Sept. 22 at the YMCA, 1100 Eastern Blvd. in Hagerstown.

Among other activities the event included:
• Antique appraisers appraising items for the public for $5 each item
• Vendors selling their crafts and other items
• Activities for children, including a climbing wall provided by Mason-Dixon Boy Scouts of America, fire truck from the Longmeadow Volunteer Fire Co., and a scavenger hunt sponsored by Leitersburg Cinema.
• Food for sale provided by the Hagerstown Lions Club and Red Cross volunteers

The grand prize was a drawing for a 2013 Harley Davidson Sportster or $7,500.    

Thomas Dudich of Warfordsburg, Pa., was the grand prize winner. He was presented the $7,500 prize by Michael Flicek, executive director of the Hagerstown YMCA, and Julie Barr-Strasburg, executive director of the Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The proceeds from the event will be used to support the YMCA scholarship program to family members of active duty military personnel stationed overseas and the American Red Cross transportation services to veterans to attend their appointments at the veterans administration hospital.   

All money raised will stay in Washington County.
