Harvest Hoedown to be held Saturday

The Harvest Hoedown will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Byron Park in Williamsport.

The event is sponsored by the Williamsport Ministerium and is a fundraiser for the Williamsport Food Bank. Donations of food items will be accepted on the day of the hoedown.

Activities include scarecrow making, pumpkin painting, silent auction, children’s games and a petting zoo. Food will be available.

‘Star Wars’ reading event to be held at book store

The Books-A-Million store at Valley Mall will hold “Star War” Reads Day Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.

The event will include stories, crafts, movie, raffle and “Star Wars” snacks. Children will have the opportunity to meet a storm trooper. The community is invited.

Community health fair planned at Valley Mall

The Hagerstown Community College School of Nursing will host a community health fair Monday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Valley Mall.

Free screenings will be offered, such as blood pressure and diabetes. There will also be presentations on medication monitoring and nutrition. 

Pie, soup, apple dumpling sale set

St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. at 1020 Maryland Ave. in Hagerstown (across from the South End Shopping Center) will hold a pie, soup, and apple dumpling sale Saturday, Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to noon.

An assortment of homemade pies, including apple, peach, cherry, pumpkin and egg custard will be available for purchase. There will be large and small pies, priced from $4.75 to $9.50 each. Apple dumplings will cost $2.50 each.

Soups will be available by the quart for $6 each. There will be vegetable beef, chicken corn, chicken noodle, ham and bean, and chili.

Sandwiches offered include country ham, beef and pickle salad, chicken salad or egg salad. All items are carry-out.

Coach and cash bingo to benefit Halfway Little League
Tickets are available for Halfway Little League’s coach and cash bingo planned Saturday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. at the Funkstown American Legion. Doors open at 11 a.m.

Prizes awarded will be 20 Coach bags stuffed with goodies and five cash prizes.

Tickets cost $30 each and include 25 games of bingo. There will be tip jars, including King Tut, plus door prizes and a 50-50.

Lunch will be available to purchase from the Funkstown Legion.
