Cruise in the pink

The classic car cruise-in Friday will benefit Breast Cancer Awareness of Cumberland Valley.

The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on two blocks of Conococheague Street. Classic cars should enter from either end of Salisbury Street. A donation of $3 is requested for entry.

Lost in the ’50s will provide the entertainment, including floorshow and several animal characters for the children.

All women are invited to sign the pink Cadillac, courtesy of George Hammond, with paint job courtesy of Bud Kline (aka Santa). Also, there will be a free drawing for women to win a Schwinn bicycle.

Harvest Hoedown planned for Saturday

The 2012 Harvest Hoedown will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Byron Memorial Park.

There will be food, scarecrow making, pumpkin painting, a silent auction, children’s games, vendors, petting zoo and other activities.


The event is sponsored by the Williamsport Ministerium and is a fundraiser for the Williamsport Food Bank. You can make donations to the food bank on the day of the Hoedown.

Lost and found items can be found at Town Hall

Many items have been found around town and turned in at Town Hall, including several sets of keys. To retrieve a lost object, stop by Town Hall weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to identify the item.

Wrestling club to hold registration

Williamsport Wrestling Club will hold registration at McDonald’s in Williamsport Tuesday, Oct. 9, through Thursday, Oct. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Registration is for those in kindergarten through eighth grade. A copy of the child’s birth certificate is required.

WHS Class of 1953 to hold 59-year reunion

The Williamsport High School Class of 1953 will hold its 59-year reunion at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Western Sizzlin’ steak house, 17567 York Road in Halfway.

All classmates are invited to attend.

Quilt raffle winner announced by group

The Williamsport Girls and Women in Sports group has announced the scholarship quilt raffle has ended. Riley Hott, a 1960 graduate of Williamsport High School, was the winner of the quilt made from WHS T-shirts.

The group would like to thank everyone who participated. The 2013 version of the quilt will be ready next spring.
