Jonathan Chad Ferris, also known as "Jarhead," 30, of Falling Waters, W.Va., passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Cumberland, Md.

Born Feb. 1, 1982, in Beckley, W.Va., he was the son of John C. Ferris of Hagerstown, Md., and Debra J. McClain Williams of Williamsport, Md.

He was a 2000 graduate of South Hagerstown High School, Hagerstown.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the 2nd Battalion 2nd Marine Division, serving two tours in Iraq in the infantry.

He was employed as an electrician with IBEW Local 307.

He was recently promoted to president of the Virginia chapter of the Avengers Motorcycle Club. He was also past vice president of the Maryland chapter of the Avengers Motorcycle Club.

He was a member of American Legion Clopper-Michael Post 10, Boonsboro, Md.

Survivors include, besides his parents, fiancee, Krystal L. Gale, and their expected son, of Falling Waters; stepfather, James Williams of Williamsport; sister, Holly J. Seitz and her husband, Eric, and their daughter, Emma, of Wacoma, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Nancy D. McClain of Rochester, N.H.; and paternal grandparents, Gene and Bobbie Ferris of Crab Orchard, W.Va.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Friday for the convenience of family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Thom Smith officiating. Military services will be provided by AMVETS Post 10 and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the trust fund at M&T Bank for his unborn son.
