St. Thomas man charged with assaulting Pa. troopers after burglary

ST. THOMAS, Pa. — A St. Thomas man has been charged with assaulting two Pennsylvania State Police officers after a burglary Friday, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Troy D. Hann, 25, of 4633 Heckman Drive, was charged with burglary, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, harassment and criminal mischief, according to a state police news release.

Troopers said they responded to a burglary at 5:40 p.m. Friday at 4663 Heckman Drive and were told by the victim that Hann broke in to the home and fled the scene. Officers said Hann was captured later on Pa. 30 in the area of Hade Road.

Police took Hann to Chambersburg Hospital to be treated for injuries he suffered during the burglary, according to the release.

Troopers allege Hann became combative while he was at the hospital and injured two troopers who restrained him.


Pa. police seek man who ate food in store without paying for it

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police said they are searching for a man who ate several items without paying for them Sunday at Varner’s Country Store in Lurgan Township.

The man went into the store at about 3:45 p.m., removed two cans of Pringles from the shelf and ate about half of the chips in one of the containers, according to a state police news release.

Troopers said the man then removed two cans of Chef Boyardee and ate them before he opened a pack of paper towels and cleaned up after himself. When he was finished, the man purchased a soda and cigarettes and left the store.

Police said the man was described as a white male in his 30s. He was 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighed about 220 pounds. He had balding dark hair and a goatee.
