It is a big week for football and school spirit at South Hagerstown High School.

The homecoming game is Friday against the Smithsburg Leopards.

The South High Rebels are a perfect 5-0. It is the best start for a South High football team since quarterback Phil Petry led the Rebels to an undefeated 9-0 season 50 years ago in 1962.

Game time Friday is at 7 p.m.

There will be a homecoming bonfire Thursday at 9 p.m., following the South High soccer game.

Saturday evening will be South high’s homecoming dance. Please be extra careful when out and about. Such an exciting week ahead with so many moments waiting to become precious memories.

Showcase of Bands

You know it’s fall when the leaves are turning, corn mazes are everywhere and the annual Showcase of Bands takes place.

One week from today, on Tuesday, Oct. 9, bands from the county high schools will come together and perform at School Stadium on the campus of South Hagerstown High School. The showcase begins at 7 p.m. Each band will have an individual performance. Admission costs $5 at the gate. The gates open at 5:45 p.m.
