Knights of Columbus gives $700 to Benevolence Fund

September 28, 2012

The Knights of Columbus Pangborn Council 1365 of Hagerstown raised $700 during its St. Patrick’s Day charity fundraiser March 17.

Members John Navarro, grand knight, and Cel Shannon, deputy grand Knight, presented the check to Cheryl Brown, development director at Hospice of Washington County, on Sept. 21.

The Knights of Columbus chose to have its donation directed to the Benevolence Fund at Hospice. The fund provides basic emergency funding for patients and their families while needed community services are established. The fund has paid for such things as groceries, pre-paid phones and stipends toward funeral expenses.

“We are grateful to be the recipient of such a generous donation to assist our patients and their families on a personal level,” Brown said. “The Knights of Columbus is so supportive of our entire community — we are blessed to be the recipient of their St. Patty’s Day fundraiser this year.”
