September 27, 2012

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Groundbreaking and excavation for a new medical office building on Tennessee Avenue across from City Hospital has begun.

West Virginia University Hospitals-East City Hospital Foundation, owner of the property, is leasing a portion of the 10-acre parcel to Chicago-based developer Healthcare Development Partners, which is constructing a 45,000-square-foot medical office building on the property, according to a news release from WVU Hospitals-East.

City Hospital has committed to leasing approximately 12,500-square-feet in the building for physician office space, the release stated.

“We also plan to relocate our lab and x-ray service currently on the first floor of the McCormack Center to the new building,” Teresa McCabe, vice president of marketing and development for WVUH-East, said in the release.

Healthcare Development Partners plans to lease the balance of the building to local physicians. The expected completion date for the medical office building is late spring 2013.
