Democrats reopening headquarters

Washington County Democrats will hold a grand reopening party for their local headquarters this weekend.

The office is at 245 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Light refreshments will be served.

Democrats also have two local events planned in October.

  • A presidential debate watch party on Oct. 3, starting at 6 p.m., will be held at The Georgia Boy Cafe at Park Circle in Hagerstown. Light appetizers will be provided.
  • A gala with the Central Maryland AFL-CIO Labor Council will be held Oct. 6, starting at 6 p.m. U.S. Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski, D-Md., will be the keynote speaker.

Washington County Republicans held a grand opening for their headquarters at 17 E. Oak Ridge Drive in Hagerstown on Sept. 8.

Young holding “meet and greet” Thursday

Frederick County Board of Commissioners President Blaine R. Young, a Republican exploring a run for Maryland governor, is holding a “meet and greet” Thursday at the North American Rod & Gun Club, 12108 Belvedere Road, Hagerstown.


A free dinner of homemade fried chicken, burgers, hot dogs, side dishes, soda and draft beer will be served. Cocktail hour starts at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m., followed by speakers.
