September 25, 2012

CLEAR SPRING — Traffic on Ashton and Saint Paul Roads near Clear Spring will be reduced to one lane at various times over the next three weeks for work on two Interstate 70 bridges over each road, according to an emailed release from the Maryland State Highway Administration.

The work began Tuesday. Work crews are cleaning and painting the bridges, which will require flagging operations on the roads, according to the release.

Traffic will alternate when the roads are reduced to one lane.

On Tuesday,  flagging was scheduled to take place on Ashton Road from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the release. It is scheduled to move to Saint Paul Road on Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is then expected to remain in effect 24 hours a day from Thursday, Sept. 27 through Thursday, Oct. 11, with work on Ashton Road the first week and on Saint Paul Road after that.

Work is expected to be completed by the middle of October, weather permitting.

Titan Industrial Services Inc. has been contracted to work on the project, which also includes cleaning and painting other bridges in the area, according to the release. The work is being done to protect the metal on the bridges and prevent corrosion.
