Candy apple fundraiser to benefit WHS choral dept.

The Williamsport High School Choral Department will hold a fundraiser for selling candy apples beginning Monday, Oct. 1, and running through Oct. 14.

Apple selections include red candy and red candy with nuts, caramel and caramel with nuts, caramel with toffee bits, caramel dipped in chocolate and dribbled in white and milk chocolate, and pumpkin apple spice.

Inaugural alumni volleyball game set 

All former Williamsport High School volleyball players are invited to sign up for an alumni volleyball game to be held Saturday, Oct. 20, from noon to 5 p.m. at Williamsport High School.

There is a $20 participant fee, which includes a game day T-shirt. All proceeds will be given to The Samantha Kelly Memorial Fund. The community is invited to watch the game. Admission will be by donation.

Clothes of Hope schedule for October

Clothes of Hope Ministries at Williamsport United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St., provides gently used and some new clothing.

It will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, Thursday, Oct. 11, and  Mondays, Oct. 15 and 22. It will be open from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct.. 8, and Thursdays, Oct. 18 and 25.

There is no charge for clothing. Monetary donations accepted.

Upcoming events

Mark your calendar now for an exciting fall season in Williamsport:

  • Harvest Hoedown is Saturday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Byron Memorial Park. There will be vendors, fall crafts and activities to benefit the Williamsport Food Bank. Craft and flea market vendors interested in a space can call Mark at 301-223-8887.
  • World War II Weekend is planned for Oct. 12, 13 and 14 at Springfield Farm Barn. The event will feature a free movie, displays, 1940s fashion show, USO dance and a patriotic concert by the Williamsport Community Band.
  • Williamsport Haunted Walks begin Wednesday, Oct, 17, at 7 p.m., starting at Town Hall. The walks are scheduled every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until Oct. 31. Discuss town haunted history, lore and paranormal investigations conducted during the past year.
  • Moonlight Festival on Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., invites the community to Town Center for treats, games and traditional hay wagon rides, all presented by the town merchants. Costumes are welcome.
