A Williamsport man was indicted earlier this month on charges that he sexually abused two girls, according to Washington County Circuit Court records.

Jason Meredith Hitchner, 29, was indicted on two counts each of sex abuse of a minor, sex abuse of a minor as a continuing course of conduct and second- and third-degree sex offenses, court records show.

Hitchner was arrested Sept. 5 and charged by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with two counts each of sex abuse of a minor and sex abuse of a minor as a continuing course of conduct. The indictment was handed up by a grand jury Sept. 13, court records show.

Assistant State’s Attorney Brett Wilson said Monday the indictment was to “adjust the charges” filed against Hitchner earlier in the month in District Court.

The indictment involves the same two victims and covers approximately the same time period as covered by the original charges, Wilson said.

Hitchner is accused of molesting the girls between July 2010 and his arrest in September, according to the indictment.
