Young Life, a nondenominational Christian organization for youth, is growing in Boonsboro.

On Tuesdays from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m., high school students are welcomed to join Young Life in the parsonage of Trinity Lutheran Church, 64 S. Main St., for an encouraging start to the day.

Finding your Civil War ancestors

On Wednesday at 7 p.m., a program focused on how to locate your ancestors’ civilian and military Civil War-era records will be led by certified genealogist Marsha L. Fuller at the Boonsboro Library.

Church rededication

The sanctuary at Trinity Lutheran Church has been fully restored after the fire that destroyed it in May 2011. 

The congregation invites the community to a rededication service Sunday during the 10:15 a.m. service.
Pastor Ron Schlack, assistant to the Bishop of the Delaware/Maryland Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will preach and two choirs will perform.

Following the service, light refreshments will be served in the social room.

At 3 p.m., Trinity will rejoice in the sounds of its newly refurbished organ with a recital by Charles Pugh of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gaithersburg, Md. 

Church yard sale

Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Rohrersville will hold a yard sale Saturday, Oct. 6, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

The event will be held indoors at the church’s friendship hall, which is at the intersection of Md. 67 and Locust Grove Road. 

Furniture, children’s clothing, toys and other items will be offered at the free yard sale (donations will be accepted). 

Country ham sandwiches, homemade soups and baked goods will be on sale. All proceeds from this event will go to the Mount Zion Needy Family Fund.

Book club

Turn the Page Bookstore invites the community to join its book club on the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m.  On Oct. 10, discussion will be centered on “The Other Woman’s House” by Sophie Hannah.

Membership is open, and book club selections are 20 percent off at Turn the Page, 18 N. Main St. in Boonsboro.
