Bark in the Park

The fifth annual Bark in the Park will be Saturday at the Jonathan Hager House and Museum in Hagerstown City Park.

Registration begins at 10 a.m., and the festivities run from 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration costs $5 and $10. The $10 registration provides a commemorative T-shirt, custom-designed goody bag, entrance into the games and all other activities. The $5 fee provides a custom-designed goody bag and participation in all games and activities.

Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Washington County.

Pastor Jerry Lowans from St. Matthew’s and Washington Square United Methodist churches will give a blessing of the animals at 10:45 a.m. 

The Paws on the Path Walk around the Jonathan Hager House will follow, and the demonstrations and games begin after the walk.

Discovery Station

Discovery Station is partnering with Jamie Kenton, an Extension educator and 4-H youth development director, to host all-day Saturday events once a month.

The first event will be Saturday, presenting Privateering Robots.

The program is about building a Lego robot to search for treasures.

The program is designed for students in grades four to 12. Reservations are limited to 25 students.

The time is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring their lunch.

The event costs $6 for students, but is free with a family membership. Some scholarships are available.

Church to hold auction

Emmanuel United Methodist Church, at 802 Summit Ave. in Hagerstown, will hold its fifth annual auction Saturday, Oct. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. Doors open at 3 p.m.

Food and desserts will be available, provided by the United Methodist Women of Emmanuel UMC. 

Proceeds will benefit major church improvements.

Rummage sale planned at church

There will be a rummage sale at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hagerstown Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Fall and winter clothing, toys, household items, small appliances and other items will be for sale.
 
The church is across from the library at 141 S. Potomac St. in downtown Hagerstown.

Lions Club
