Donald Freaner, 83

Donald "Don" Freaner, 83, of Smithsburg, Md., passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at his home.

Born April 15, 1929, in Baynesville, Md., he was the son of George and Eleanor Freaner.

Don was a lifetime resident of Maryland, a successful business manager and a member of the "Old Grizzlies," a group of senior Greenbelt High School graduates.

Don loved fishing, bowling, fast-pitch softball, woodworking and playing cards.

Family was the center of Don's life, and he loved to have a good laugh with all.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; former wife, Doris; sisters, Helen Gibson of Clarksville, Md., and Gwen Lane of Scotland Neck, N.C.; daughters, Beverly Youhouse of Hyattsville, Md., Bonnie Breeden of New Windsor, Md., and Barbara Kinchen and Deborah Freaner, both of Clarksville; stepdaughters, Teresa Lloyd of Charles Town, W.Va., and Angela Crigger of Boonsboro, Md.; and stepson, H. Joseph Bailer III of Myersville, Md. He was the proud grandfather of 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by son, Robert Freaner; brothers, George Freaner and William Freaner; and sister, Vivian Sabbia.

A memorial service will be Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Smithsburg Valley Church, 12911 Bikle Road, Smithsburg.
