Rape reported Friday night in Big Pool

A woman reported that she was raped Friday night at a residence on Big Pool Road in Big Pool, Maryland State Police said.

Troopers responded to the residence at 10:23 p.m. and were told by a woman that a white male wearing a dark-colored hooded sweat shirt and dirty blue jeans had broken in to the home and raped her, according to a state police news release.

The man was described as a white male with dirty blond hair and a clean-shaven face. He was about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build.

Hagerstown man charged with theft and destruction of property

A Hagerstown man has been charged with stealing hundreds of dollars and causing hundreds of dollars more in damages when he allegedly broke in to parking meters over the last two months in downtown Hagerstown.

Derek Michael McMahon, 21, of 115 N. Potomac St., Apt. 2, was charged with theft scheme and malicious destruction of property, according to a Hagerstown Police Department news release.

Police said the thefts took place between Aug. 1 and Sept. 15 at numerous parking meters in the downtown area. The estimated total loss was $2,300, which includes the stolen coins and damages to the locking mechanisms on the meters, the release said.

An investigation determined that McMahon and Phillip James Bean, of no fixed address, were responsible for taking money from the meters.

Police said McMahon was arrested Sept. 16 and taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held on $10,000 bond.

Officers said Bean is still at large.

Two men charged with assault and robbery

FREDERICK, Md. — Two men, including a Chambersburg, Pa., resident, have been charged with assaulting and robbing a man Friday morning in Frederick, the Frederick Police Department said.

Gerald Omar Starlett, 18, of 404 Washington St. in Chambersburg, was charged with one count each of strong-armed robbery, theft, conspiracy to commit theft and second-degree assault, according to a police department news release.

Devon Cleophus Williams, 27, of the Frederick Travel Lodge, was charged with conspiracy to commit theft.

Police said Starlett and Williams assaulted the man and took his iPhone in the 500 block of Fleming Avenue.

Both men were spotted later at Hood College and arrested without incident, the release said.



Woman falls off cliff near The Woods resort

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. — A woman fell from a cliff Saturday morning in the area of The Woods resort and spa near Hedgesville, a Morgan County Emergency Services dispatcher said.

The dispatcher said the incident occurred at 11:30 a.m. near Maverick Trail. Rescue workers were at the scene.

Further details, including the woman’s condition, were not immediately available.



Helicopter dispatched for ATV accident

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. — A helicopter was called to fly one person to the hospital following an all-terrain vehicle accident Saturday afternoon off McKees Gap Road in Fulton County, Pa., a Fulton County Emergency Services dispatcher said.

The dispatcher said the incident was reported at 12:50 p.m.

Further details were not immediately available.
