HAGERSTOWN — The North Hagerstown football team didn’t have to depend on any single player to lead the way on Friday night against Fort Hill.

The Hubs have a big arsenal of weapons to choose from.

Four players combined for eight touchdowns as North ran over the Fort Hill Sentinels 54-16 at Mike Callas Stadium.

Senior tailback Tre Anderson finished with three touchdowns for North (3-1). Two came on kickoff returns of more than 80 yards each, and the other came on a pass from junior quarterback Nicholas Karlen.

Senior fullback Kyle Hewlett and junior tailback Isaiah Keyes added two touchdown runs each for the Hubs. Sophomore tailback Preston Carey had the other touchdown run.

North’s offense was on target all night, committing no turnovers against Fort Hill (2-2).

The Hubs won the opening coin toss, elected to receive and Anderson dashed along the left sideline for an 86-yard kickoff return for the lightning-fast lead.

With 4:46 remaining in the first quarter, Hewlett broke through left tackle for a 5-yard touchdown run and junior kicker Mark Grunberg made the first of his six extra-point kicks to lift the Hubs’ lead to 13-0.

Fort Hill reduced the deficit to 13-7 with 41 seconds to go in the first quarter when Hunter Squires threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Travis Bush and Chris King kicked the extra point.

The Sentinels narrowed the gap to 13-10 with 5:20 left in the second when King kicked a 22-yard field goal.

Hewlett scored on a 1-yard run with 1:22 remaining in the half, and Keyes added a 3-yard touchdown through the middle just 1:02 later to increase the Hubs’ advantage to 27-10 at halftime.

Zac Elbin scored on a 4-yard run with 11:13 to go in the third quarter to help Fort Hill cut the lead to 27-16.

On the very next play, Anderson found space along the left sideline again for an 85-yard kickoff return for the first of four touchdowns for the Hubs in the third quarter.

Carey scored on a 15-yard touchdown run to the right, Karlen threw an 8-yard scoring pass to Anderson on the left side, and Keyes broke loose for a 58-yard touchdown run up the right side to raise the Hubs’ lead to 54-16.
