House fire near Gerrardstown, W.Va., under investigation

September 21, 2012

GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. — An early morning fire that destroyed a Berkeley County home off Buck Hill Road early Thursday was under investigation, Assistant State Fire Marshal Patrick Barker said Friday.

The two-story structure at 26 Solarwood Court in Deerwood subdivision was destroyed by the fire, which was reported just before 3 a.m. Thursday, according to Barker.

The Gerrardstown, W.Va., area residence was vacant, but had been a nice home that might have only been built in the last 20 to 30 years, according to Barker.

Due to the amount of damage, Barker said the cause of the fire was not immediately determined.

Anyone with information about the fire can contact Barker through the State Fire Marshal’s office at 304-558.2191.
