Washington County games

Fort Hill Sentinels (2-1) at North Hagerstown Hubs (2-1)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Series: Fort Hill leads, 35-5-1.

Last meeting: 2003 — North Hagerstown, 33-12.

Last week: The Sentinels beat MATHS, 70-6. ... The Hubs beat Oakdale, 22-19.

Notes: The last meeting between the schools was in the Class 2A West semifinals in 2003. The Sentinels won the previous 13 meetings (from 1984 to 1996) in the series. ... The Sentinels led MATHS (Maryland Academy of Technology and Health Sciences of Baltimore) 63-6 at halftime. They gained 525 yards, including 444 on the ground. ... Alex Barnes had 176 yards and two touchdowns on just seven first-half carries. ... Fort Hill intercepted five passes. ... Kyle Hewlett ran for a 6-yard touchdown with 37 seconds left in the game to give the Hubs the victory over Oakdale. Hewlett led the Hubs with 77 yards rushing and Isaiah Keyes had 61 yards on 23 carries. ... Preston Carey intercepted an Oakdale pass in the end zone with just seconds remaining to preserve the victory. ... The Hubs picked off three Oakdale passes and Matt Ritter had 2 1/2 quarterback sacks.

South Hagerstown Rebels (3-0) at Thomas Johnson Patriots (2-1)

Series: Thomas Johnson leads, 14-7-1.

Last meeting: 2011 — Thomas Johnson, 35-7.

Last week: The Rebels beat Boonsboro, 32-13. ... The Patriots beat Tuscarora, 48-14.

Notes: Last year’s game was the first in the series since 1986. ... The Patriots have won six of the last seven meetings. The Rebels’ last win over TJ was in 1986. ... The Rebels are off to their first 3-0 start since 1990. It’s just the seventh time in the 56-year history of the program that South has opened a season with three straight wins. ... Isiaha Smith carried 32 times for 186 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Boonsboro. ... Brandon Jackson added 170 yards rushing. He ran for one touchdown and threw for another. ... South gained 396 yards against Boonsboro and allowed 205. ... The Rebels were penalized 16 times for 139 yards last week; TJ was flagged 12 times for more than 100 yards. ... Richy Anderson had 122 total yards and three touchdowns for TJ in last week’s win over Tuscarora.

Notes: The Railroaders have won the last two meetings in the series. ... The teams have played two common opponents this season. Both beat North Carroll (Smithsburg 29-17, Brunswick 49-7) and both lost to Manchester Valley (Smithsburg 37-13, Brunswick 36-33). ... The Leopards punted on their first three possessions last week and Manchester Valley converted all three into touchdowns. ... Zach Krall completed 6 of 17 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown. ... Austin Ryan led the Leopards with 58 yards rushing. ... Railroaders quarterback Collin Nusbaum has thrown for more than 1,000 yards in just three games this season. ... Blaine Price has 35 catches for 465 yards.

Carson Long Military Warriors (0-1) at Hancock Panthers (0-3)

Last meeting: 2011 — Hancock, 40-0.

Last week: The Warriors lost to Mount Carmel, 50-0. ... The Panthers lost to Clear Spring, 22-0.

Notes: The Panthers have outscored the Warriors 88-0 in their two meetings. ... The Warriors have lost 35 straight games. Their last win was Sept. 19, 2008 — an 18-6 victory over Mount Zion Baptist. ... The Panthers have lost five straight dating back to last season, their longest losing streak since dropping 14 in a row in 2007 and 2008. ... The Panthers’ game against Clear Spring was halted midway through the fourth quarter when a fight broke out on the field. Coaches and officials met to discuss the matter and officials decided to end the game with more than six minutes remaining.

Catoctin Cougars (1-2) at Williamsport Wildcats (0-3)

Series: Catoctin leads, 25-16.

Last meeting: 2011 — Catoctin, 8-0.

Last week: The Cougars beat Francis Scott Key, 40-22. ... The Wildcats lost to Poolesville, 26-15.

Notes: The Cougars have won the last 10 meetings. ... Williamsport’s last win in the series was a 20-19 victory on Sept. 14, 2001. It was the team’s last victory before it started the longest losing streak in program history, a 20-game skid that lasted until September 2003. ... The Wildcats are off to their first 0-3 start since 2004, when they went 1-9. ... Catoctin’s win over FSK last week snapped a seven-game losing streak that dated back to last season. ... Tyler Davis ran for three touchdowns and Charles Jenkins rushed for 111 yards to lead the Cougars in the win over FSK. ... T.J. Boyer threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns for Williamsport in the loss to Poolesville — their first in four meetings against the Falcons. Jesse Zeger and Zach Hopkins caught the TD passes.

St. John’s Catholic Prep Vikings (1-2) at Saint James Saints (2-1)

Last week: The Vikings beat Massanutten Military, 54-6. ... The Saints lost to Bishop Walsh, 32-28.

Notes: Grier Wilson scored four touchdowns (80-yard kickoff return, 50-yard punt return, 40-yard and 41-yard passes) for the Vikings in their win over Massanutten. ... The Saints were just over a minute away from a 3-0 start to the season, but Terrell McGraw connected with Billy Conroy for a 24-yard touchdown pass to give Bishop Walsh the win on Saturday. ... Saints quarterback Bobby Brennan threw four touchdown passes, giving him eight for the season.

Boonsboro Warriors (2-1) at Clear Spring Blazers (2-1)

Series: Boonsboro leads, 6-0.

Last week: The Warriors lost to South Hagerstown, 32-13. ... The Blazers beat Hancock, 22-0.

Notes: The Warriors have outscored the Blazers 276-13 in the series. ... Last year’s meeting was the first in which Boonsboro did not score at least 41 points. ... The Warriors allowed 345 rushing yards in the loss to South Hagerstown, while gaining just 79 yards on the ground. ... Zach Poffenberger scored both touchdowns for the Warriors last week. He ran for 41 yards and caught six passes for 53 yards. ... Ryan Ruiz threw for 102 yards and a touchdown. ... The Warriors scored on just two of their eight possessions and turned the ball inside the South 20-yard line twice. ... The Blazers’ win over Hancock was stopped midway through the fourth quarter because of a fight on the field. ... Jesse Gentry scored two touchdowns (6-yard run, 52-yard punt return) for the Blazers. Kevin Thatcher scored Clear Spring’s other touchdown on a 10-yard interception return.
