Mary Catherine (Rickard) Mumma, 70, of Chambersburg, Pa., died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at 9:20 p.m. at Chambersburg Hospital after an extended illness.

Born July 28, 1942, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Clayton E. and Pauline Elizabeth (Zepp) Rickard.

She grew up in the Hagerstown area and married the late Kenneth J. Mumma. After her husband's death, she moved to Chambersburg in the early 1970s, where she lived with her beloved companion, Stanley E. Cook Sr., for more than 40 years.

Mary was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening and bingo. She was a very generous person, making contributions to charitable organizations whenever she could. She put others' needs before her own, always making sure her loved ones' needs were always provided for.

In addition to her companion, Stanley, she is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Anne "Annie" Flohr and her husband, Thomas, of Chambersburg; a son, Stanley E. Cook Jr. and his wife, Kelly, of Waynesboro, Pa.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a sister, Patricia Beachley of Waynesboro; three brothers, Joseph Rickard of Hagerstown, Clayton Rickard Sr. of Utah, and Michael J. Rickard of McConnellsburg, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles F. Rickard Sr.

A memorial service will be Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Calvary Assembly of God, with Pastor Dwan N. Newsome officiating.
