William Francis "Terry" Fantone III, 63, of Falling Waters, W.Va., and formerly of Baldwin, Md., passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at his home.

Born April 9, 1949 in Manhattan, N.Y., he was the son of William Francis Fantone Jr. and Geraldine Mary Farrell Fantone of Frederick, Md.

He was a graduate of Gaithersburg High School in Gaithersburg, Md., a graduate of Loyola College in Baltimore, Md., with a bachelor of science degree, and a graduate of University of Baltimore Law School.

He was admitted to the Maryland Bar Association in 1976.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He was an attorney with Smith, Somerville & Case of Baltimore, and subsequently became managing attorney with Nationwide Insurance Co. in Baltimore until retiring in 2004.

He was a court-appointed special advocate for the Washington County Health Department, and also volunteered at Homewood Retirement Center in Williamsport, Md.

He was an avid golfer and a fierce competitor. He was also a devout Dallas Cowboys fan.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his significant other of six years, Sharon R. Shrader of Williamsport; sister, Maureen T. Lee of Mount Airy, Md.; brother, Sean L. Fantone of Hagerstown, Md.; sister, Gerri F. Stoner of Rockville, Md.; sister, Suzanne M. Kelly of Frederick; sister, Elizabeth A. Fantone of Hagerstown; brother, Timothy J. Fantone of Annapolis, Md.; sister, Katey A. Fantone of West Melbourne, Fla.; nine nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, with the Rev. John Jicha officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Saturday after 1 p.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
