Montgomery County Public Schools administrator hired as South High assistant principal

September 19, 2012

A Montgomery County Public Schools administrator has been hired to be an assistant principal at South Hagerstown High School.

The Washington County Board of Education unanimously approved personnel moves Tuesday, including hiring John D. Shirk to be an assistant principal at South High.

Shirk has been an assistant principal at Magruder High School in Montgomery County, Md., said Mike Markoe, associate superintendent for educational improvement and innovation. Magruder’s website lists Shirk as an assistant school administrator.

Shirk’s start time at South is to be determined because it’s contingent upon his release from Montgomery County Public Schools, according to an email from Markoe.
