Four charged after two armed robberies in Hagerstown area

Four people were charged following two armed robberies in the Hagerstown area Saturday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

At 3:55 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s office received a call for an armed robbery at Rosewood Liquors at 11205 John F. Kennedy Drive.

A male entered the store, showed a firearm, and fled with merchandise and cash, police said.

A witness to the robbery was able to direct police to the male and the vehicle in which he was traveling, police said. The male, identified as Reginald Tyrone Scott, 49, no fixed address, was arrested in the 1000 block of Security Road, police said.

Officers from the Hagerstown Police Department and Maryland State Police helped apprehend Scott.

Scott was charged with robbery, armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, theft, reckless endangerment, possession of a handgun in the commission of a felony and possession of a handgun, police said.


At 5:20 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a call for a robbery in the 17300 block of Valley Mall Road.

A victim was approached by three males and robbed of property and cash, police said.

The alleged assailants fled the scene but were stopped a short time later by police, officials said.

State police helped catch the men, authorities said.

Justin Bryant Leibrand, 25, of 15685 Pennsylvania Ave., State Line, Pa., was charged with conspiracy to commit theft less than $1,000 value, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Benjamin Andrew Benner, 21, of 13921 Village Mill Drive, Maugansville, was charged with robbery, second-degree assault, theft less than $1,000 value and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.

Timothy Scott Everett Jr., 25, of 10919 Decker Ave., Hagerstown, was charged with robbery, theft less than $1,000 value and second-degree assault.
