Whitetail Resort getting ready for winter season

September 18, 2012

MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Whitetail Resort employees are beginning preparations for the upcoming winter season, according to a news release from the resort.

Capital improvement projects include significant upgrades to the snow-making operation. Upgrades that include new nozzles for the resort’s supply of Wizzard Fan Guns will increase snow-making productivity by at least 50 percent on eight trails, the news release stated.

Additional fan guns have been added to the Sidewinder trail, and upgrades have been made to the automated snow-making hydrants, allowing the resort to utilize less electricity when snow is made.

Other capital improvements at the resort include new family-sized seasonal lockers, a new Whitetail Resort website and new junior Elan rental skis, the news release stated.

“We know our capital improvement projects we have undertaken will make the upcoming winter even better for our guests. The cold weather is just around the corner, and we are very much looking forward to the winter season,” said Katrina Gayman, marketing director.

The resort will host its 12th annual Great Outdoors Festival Oct. 27 and 28.

Staff members are preparing for the festival, which will include two new events this year — a chili cook-off and a 5K trail run, both on Oct. 27. Registrations are being taken through Oct. 15 for both.
