Mail Call - Sept. 17

September 16, 2012

“I called in a week ago about a house on Fairview Mountain in Clear Spring, that the landlord just let go. Weeds grow up, and it looks terrible. Every time we ride by there, we have to look at that, and it looks awful. And they put a picture on the front of the paper a couple days ago about a house in Hagerstown. I think they need the one in there on Fairview Mountain because these people live in the country, they should be just as liable as the people in the city.”
— Washington County

“I’m calling just to ask a question. I know that, you know, the mayor and the council will get the stadium where they want it, but why wasn’t the Pangborn Park area ever looked at? I mean, it looks like it’s huge over there, lots of parking, and then people could enjoy the park. I would just like to know the reasoning behind (why) it wasn’t chosen. Oh, and by the way, I know who donated the money.”
— Hagerstown

“This is in answer to the person who called in to Mail Call about the location of Republican headquarters here in Hagerstown. It is at 17 E. Oak Ridge Drive, and it is manned by volunteers, so I would suggest they call first before going: 301-739-2118.”
— Hagerstown

“Everyone, read Tim Rowland’s column in Thursday, Sept. 6th’s paper. I really didn’t think there was anyone with an intelligent mind on this stadium, except myself, but I find out that Tim Rowland has intelligence also, unlike the people who are trying to, like he said, shoehorn ... please, is there anyone else with intelligence in this town that understands, like Tim Rowland and I, that it’s an idiotic idea to put this stadium in downtown?”
— Hagerstown

“What has happened to this area? We have some donor who is going to give us $15 million for a baseball stadium? What about Holly Place, what about Bester Elementary School?”
— Washington County

“I’m calling about a, answer to an ad in here about voter ID or voter rights. He says that is discriminating against the poor, handicapped. He is wrong. The Democrats want these votes, and most of them are illegal immigrants ... That’s why a photo ID should be required for everybody to vote. You can get them very easily, the state helps you, and it’s no problem ... that is the most important thing in the United States of America, get out and vote.”
— Hagerstown
