Program for artistically talented eighth-graders offered at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts this fall

September 16, 2012

Barbara Ingram School for the Arts will offer and host the Center for Artistically Talented Students program for eighth-graders in Washington County on four Saturdays in October and November.

Students with an interest in the visual and performing arts are invited to submit an application of interest to participate. The program will be presented with specific areas of focus in dance, vocal music, instrumental music, theater arts and visual arts. Students who apply must select a primary area of interest for the four-week session.

Sessions are scheduled on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon, on Oct. 13 and 27, and Nov. 3 and 10, at the school on South Potomac Street in Hagerstown.

Students selected to participate will be expected to attend all four sessions. Student enrollment in each area, except instrumental music, will be limited to 20 students. Instrumental music students will be selected from the six instrumental groups to promote a balanced ensemble. If the number of applicants exceeds enrollments in the other areas, a lottery system will be used to select the participating students.
