Washington County public hearing date changed

September 14, 2012

The date that the Washington County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on amendments to the 2012 Maryland Building Performance Standards ordinance has been changed.

The county originally advertised the hearing date as Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m., but that has been changed to Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 1:30 p.m.

The hearing will be in Room 227 of the Washington County Administration Building, 100 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown.

The proposed amendment would change the effective date in the ordinance from Oct. 1, 2012, to July 1, 2015, for the installation of automatic residential fire sprinkler systems in one- and two-family dwellings as required by Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR).

Copies of the proposed ordinance amendment are available for review in the Washington County Division of Plan Review & Permitting, 80 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. It also may be found on the county’s website at www.washco-md.net.

All those wanting to speak will have the opportunity to do so at the hearing. The county says questions may be directed to Jennifer Smith, director, Division of Plan Review & Permitting, 240-313-2460.
